Nominating Committee Now Accepting Applications for SOAR Board of Directors

Streeterville residents who are interested in being considered as a candidate to serve as a director of SOAR's Board of Directors are invited to submit an application to the Nominating Committee.

Since 1975, SOAR, a volunteer-based community organization, has been working on behalf of Streeterville's residents to preserve, promote and enhance the quality of life and community.  In an age of reduced municipal and state budgets and increased taxes, it is now more important than ever that residents come together to ensure that City services are maintained, safety and security remain a priority and that developers consider the needs of our community.  All voices matter - including yours.

SOAR Board members are elected for two (2) year terms at SOAR's annual meeting.  However, from time to time a vacancy occurs during the year or the Board is not filled to capacity, allowing an interim appointment of a director prior to the annual meeting.

Interested Streeterville residents are asked to complete an online application and submit copy of a current resume or CV.

We sincerely thank you for your interest in SOAR and look forward to seeing your continued involvement with SOAR as your application is considered.

New Development Proposed for 70-104 E. Oak Street

A Lakefront Protection Application has been filed for these parcels by 58 E Oak LLC.

The developer plans to demolish the existing structure and create a two-story retail/commercial space.  The intent is to continue large retail display windows and high ceiling heights consistent with other properties along the street.

Alderman Reilly has requested streetscape improvements including trees in parkway planter and sidewalk paving in black concrete for the entire frontage of the proposed development.

Construction of the 70-104 East Oak Street building is scheduled to start late summer with completion targeted for June of 2013.

Review the developer's plans and Lakefront Protection Application.
